Lori Najvar: Director
The Austin-based nonprofit was born out of Lori Najvar’s extensive research into her own Texas Czech heritage and her interest in the cultural traditions around the state. She initially created the documentary “Czech Links–800 Pounds of Tradition” through her St. Edward’s University MLA studies, and from this experience found the fascinating auctioneering world. PolkaWorks has produced the successful traveling exhibit “Going Going Gone!—Story of the Auctioneer” which has been showcased at the Texas State Capitol, 2010-Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, community libraries, county fairs, and museums. PolkaWorks documentary “The Grove, Texas” will broadcast in late 2013.  We are also in production with a new multi-media traveling exhibit—”Texas Czechs: Rooted in Tradition.”
