Family Day at Texas Capitol Visitor's Center

On July 10th, families (many of them multigenerational) attended a family day of activities at the State Capitol Visitors Center offered in conjunction with the Texas Czechs exhibit.

Children dressed up in kroj (ethic costumes) for photographs, made kolaches out of Playdough, and leaned some Czech phrases, among other activities. Hundreds of visitors drove from Central Texas, Houston, and San Antonio. Some people discovered photos of themselves in the exhibit. Non-Czechs thanked us for providing a cultural traditions reference that they could use to explore their own heritage with their children.
University of Texas students, Monika Cavanaugh–Miss Texas Czech-Slovak 2016 and Celeste Banda helped everyone with the activities.
